Never a Dull Moment... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- fever + rash = cranky kid Well let's just say that I'm happy last week is over with. It all started on the evening of October 2nd after Taylor's party. It seems that Aidan was warm and had a fever. I took his temp and it was 102.5, I figured it was due to teething so I gave him some Motrin and he went about himself and continued to play on the floor. He was a bit cranky still at bedtime so he slept with us. He seemed fine by Monday morning, so we went an ran errands while the older kids were at school and then headed into Taylor's school for her "classroom" party. That's when everything changed, Aidan turned red and was crying uncontrollably. I gave him more Motrin and we went home. He was asleep when we arrived so Steve went outside to get some work done. Aidan woke up around 2:45pm shivering and whimpering. I immediately called Steve in when I took Aidan's temp and it was 104.5. Steve took him to the ER and within an hour his temp was up to 106.5. They took him right back and hooked him up to an IV and started antibiotics while they figured out what test they wanted to run. I went up as soon as the kids got home from school. It seems that nothing came back positive, so once they got his temp down to 102.5 the let us go home. We took him in the to see the Pediatrician and she gave him another shot of the sntibiotics and said that we needed to bring him back the next day for a recheck. She was thinking that the high fever was due to Roseola and told us to look for a rash to break out after the fever was gone. I'd say that is definitely what happened: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v188/Aidanpics/100_2637.jpg
I'm happy to say that a week later he's fever and rash free and back to his HAPPY self and that's a good thing because it allowed us to clean-up the basement after the waterproofers didn't adjust our sump float correctly and we woke up to 2-3 inches of rain Saturday morning.
