Never a Dull Moment... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Appointment run-down.... Where to begin...The week before and the week of Thanksgiving were filled with doctor's appointments for Taylor & Aidan. We traveled back and forth to Walter Reed and Bethesda MORE times than we would ever want to, but since that's where all the specialty doctor are it had to be done. Let's see - Aidan had his Opthalmology appointment and everything dealing with his eyes are fine. Great news for us. Then Aidan & Taylor had their Neuro appts - they put in for Taylor to have an updated MRI and upped Aidan's meds again for us. He doesn't have to go back until early January unless things drastically change. If things do, then well be starting the Ketogenic Diet which will be a HUGE change for us as a family. Well atleast for me and Aidan it will be. The next appointment would be Taylor's genetist appt, this proved to be a very educational and very informative appointment. I just wish we would of had the appointment years ago. It seems that the doctor is pretty sure (this is before blood test to confirm) that Taylor's has Angelman's Syndrome. This is what we thought 5+ years ago, but the bloodwork came back saying something different. It seems that the doctor DIDN'T do the right blood test. We should all go sometime in the next week or so to have the bloodwork done. Taylor's MRI was done on the 23rd which was a total surprise since all I had planned on was being able to make an appointment when I called. When I talked to the doctor yesterday he said everything was good, which again was GREAT news for us. It means the seizures are most likely a side-effect of the Angelman's syndrome and not something else. Aidan's final appointment would be his ENT appointment. He has to go back in January for his hearing test and the pre-op testing in order for him to get the PE tubes put in. I'll be happy when that day arrives and my son can once again get a goodnight's sleep.
